To all Members, Friends, Supporters and Colleagues

The Board of OWN have taken the very painful and sad decision to wind up the organisation. The ongoing funding challenge and the subsequent loss of staff in November last, makes it impossible to carry on working to build the capacity of older women to have a voice in the decision and policy making process in Ireland and to deliver the work programme planned for 2012.

OWN is a unique organisation representing both gender and age and with statistical data proving that older women are in the majority of the over 50s in Ireland there is most definitely a need for OWN but without core funding this proves impossible.

Although there is great sadness in this decision there is pride in all we have achieved to date and it is with grace and dignity that we will finally leave our offices in All Hallows in August 2012.

There is always hope that OWN will rise again in the future and to assure you that each and every member of OWN will continue be vibrant, vocal and visible.
