As you know OWN members contributed to the recent submission to the government consultation on the UN Periodic Review on Ireland's Human Rights Record (see Publications).

OWN member Anne Mc Sweeney Healy who took part in the OWN process represented OWN on a recent Irish Human Rights Commission event held in partnership with Older and Bolder. Older & Bolder nominated Anne as an observer to attend the presentation by Minister Alan Shatter in Geneva with the Irish Council for Civil Liberties. Your Rights Right Now Invite You to Breakfast with Minister Shatter

Early next Thursday morning, Minister Alan Shatter TD will be defending Ireland’s human rights record at the Universal Periodic Review live from the United Nations in Geneva. Join us for breakfast in Dublin to watch the hearing live.

Time: 8.00 am -11.00 am
Place: Connolly Room, Liberty Hall, Dublin 1 (Entrance via Liberty Hall Theatre)

Participants are welcome to drop in at any time between 8.00 am and 11.00 am to enjoy a light breakfast and meet with members of Your Rights. Right Now while watching the live feed from the UN in Geneva.

Last year seventeen leading organisations came together to make sure that the United Nations heard your views about your rights –right now. Join us on 6 October 2011 for the culmination of this process and to watch Minister Shatter respond to questions from other UN member states on Ireland’s human rights record for the very first time.
